Terms and Conditions
The plain-English version of what we're promising you is the Constitution - this page is the actual agreement you're making by creating an account.
1. Who can use this site
You have to be at least 18 years old to create an account - we ask for your birthday at signup specifically to check this, and it's never shown on your profile. You're responsible for keeping your login to yourself and for everything that happens under your account.
2. Your content
You keep ownership of whatever you post here - your bio, photos, guestbook entries, messages, ProfiRings, and custom CSS. Posting it gives us permission to store it and show it the way the site is designed to: on your profile, in the guestbook, in browse listings, and so on. Don't post anything you don't have the right to post, and don't post anything illegal, harassing, or meant to deceive other members about who you are.
3. How we expect you to behave
Represent yourself honestly. Don't harass, threaten, scam, or ask other members for money. Don't run more than one account, impersonate anyone else, or use this site to advertise something unrelated to meeting people. An account that does any of this can be suspended or removed, with or without advance notice.
4. Meeting other members
This site exists to help you meet people - what happens between you and another member, on this site or off it, is between the two of you. This website is not responsible for the conduct of any user, and disclaims liability for any harm, loss, or damage arising from your interactions with other members, whether that happens through messages, the guestbook, by using any other feature at this website or in person. Report and Block exist so you can act immediately if someone makes you uncomfortable - use them, no explanation required. 5. No warranty
This site is provided as-is, built and run by one person as a hobby project, without warranties of any kind. We don't promise it'll be error-free, always available, or that you'll meet anyone in particular. Features get added, changed, and occasionally broken and fixed again - that's the nature of something built and maintained by hand rather than by a large team.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Handmade Hearts and whoever operates it aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site - including, specifically, anything arising from your interactions with other members as described in section 4.
7. Account standing
You're free to stop using the site at any time, and you can permanently delete your account from Settings accessible via "Delete Your Account" webpage whenever you want - this immediately removes your profile, photos, messages, guestbook entries, favorites, and blocks. Reports you've filed or been named in stay on file with your name removed from them, since that's moderation history the site needs to keep rather than personal data that's only yours. We can also suspend or remove an account that violates these terms, particularly following a report confirmed by review.
8. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the site changes. If they are, the date at the top of this page changes with them. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current version.
